What is it?

A photo resistive theremin with touch capacitive functionality. Is it designed to be used with Defcon Indie Badges and it has a 1.69 SOA connector but it will also work on original SOA ports.

It comes fully assembled with info and partial modification instructions.

Why did you make it?

This project came from an expressed desire among the badgelife community for a furby-oriented project. We didn't have the time to reverse engineer an actual furby so we figured this would be the next best thing.

What makes it special?

Aside from being a dual theremin, it features several touch capacitive pads to modify the sound during use. It is Area 51 themed, with a meme about the raid on the backside and features a lobotomized/experimented on furby on the front.

You need to touch it's beak to turn it on/off.

This is only using 2 of potentially 6 oscillators so there is a lot of room to modify/hack this device. There is also a place on one of the ears for a spring jack for a signal out; the idea being that yes, you could run this into a modular synth if you wanted.

*Please note that touch capacity varies based on the humidity in the environment and on your hands. This can have an effect on the sensitivity of the controls.
