The best opensource soldering station available right now
For AxxSolder 3
I was looking for an affordable but good quality soldering station for years. I came across AxxSolder which is an opensource project (I'm a fan of opensource projects). Axel has done a really good job on the PCB design, the circuit design but also the documentation and the whole control of the JBC or JBC like pencils/handles. He has also reverse engineered the cartridges understanding exactly how they work and how they should be controlled. The device interface is simple with a quick boot time, a small form factor which gives you the option to make it a small portable soldering iron and the soldering iron is getting ready in a few seconds depending on the power input and the pencil/handle used. Another nice thing is that it can be USB powered, ideal for portable versions. It can control all three JBC pencils/handles T245, T210 and T115 which you can imagine how much reduces the total cost. I ordered mine, which I received less than a week after and combined it with Aixun pencils/handles but original JBC cartridges. I use it with all three (T245, T210 and T115) depending on my job. The price may look high in the beginning but it worth it for what you get. It can be combined with JBC stands or some cheaper versions available on the internet.
As an embedded systems engineer I would suggest it for sure! It's the perfect soldering station for a home or even a professional lab with limited budget.
