** PLEASE NOTE: the JST connector on MIDI CHIP PRO MICRO is NOT compatible with QWIIC or STEMMA, do NOT connect it to a QWIIC or STEMMA connector as it will damage your MIDI CHIP PRO MICRO, this jack is there for testing and for fast wiring to future Carrier Boards from BadassMIDI
MIDI CHIP Pro Micro was designed to be as easy to panel mount to your MIDI Controller as it only requires 2 drill points.
MIDI CHIP Pro Micro is MIDI Compliant and therefore it's only compatible with Type A wiring. For more info view the Official MIDI Association's spec at https://www.midi.org/midi-articles/trs-specification-adopted-and-released
MIDI CHIP Pro Micro also has a OUT/THRU switch which turns the OUTPUT jack into either an OUTPUT using your UART TX pin or a Hardware THRU jack, sending all data coming into the INPUT jack straight to the OUTPUT jack without any software latency.
MIDI CHIP Pro Micro can be used with either 5v or 3.3v logic devices, if you are using a 5v board like Arduino UNO you don't need to do anything, but if you're using a 3.3v board like Teensy or ESP32 you just have to solder the solder jumpers labeleled 3.3v and you're good to go!
Hardware Serial is highly recommended for best performance, Arduino's Software Serial is often times too slow for MIDI communication specifically for MIDI input.
You will only need to wire MIDI CHIP Pro Micro to your MCU via 4 wires, a Serial RX, Serial TX, VCC (3.3v or 5v depending on your MCU logic level) and GND and then wire MIDI Chip to your MIDI Jacks. With MIDI CHIP Pro Micro there’s no additional circuitry required to have a MIDI spec compliant Input & Output!
