MIDI CHIP Pro is a module for Arduino based projects containing everything you need to add full MIDI Input and Output to your project, all you need to do is Drill 4 holes (template included) and mount MIDI CHIP Pro along with the included cover plate and wire your UART RX and TX to MIDI CHIP Pro along with VCC and GND and you get instant MIDI IO!

** PLEASE NOTE: the JST connector on MIDI CHIP PRO is NOT compatible with QWIIC or STEMMA, do NOT connect it to a QWIIC or STEMMA connector as it will damage your MIDI CHIP PRO, this jack is there for testing and for fast wiring to future Carrier Boards from BadassMIDI

MIDI CHIP Pro also has a OUT/THRU switch which turns the OUTPUT jack into a either an OUTPUT using your UART TX pin or a Hardware THRU jack, sending all data coming into the INPUT jack straight to the OUTPUT jack.

MIDI CHIP Pro can be used with either 5v or 3.3v logic devices, if you are using a 5v board like Arduino UNO you don't need to do anything, but if you're using a 3.3v board like Teensy or ESP32 you just have to solder the solder jumpers labeleled 3.3v and you're good to go!

MIDI CHIP Pro was design for real world use, not just for development, mounting it to your MIDI Enclosure is as easy as drilling 4 holes, set and forget, just like a commercial midi controller!

Hardware Serial is highly recommended for best performance, Arduino's Software Serial is often times too slow for MIDI communication specifically for MIDI input.

You will only need to wire MIDI CHIP Pro to your MCU via 4 wires, a Serial RX, Serial TX, VCC (3.3v or 5v depending on your MCU logic level) and GND and then wire MIDI Chip to your MIDI Jacks. With MIDI CHIP Pro there’s no additional circuitry required to have a MIDI spec compliant Input & Output!
