Read More…Use a traditional PS/2 mouse with your Commodore 64. This ATmega8-based board emulates the Commodore 1351 Mouse. The adapter is tested with GEOS 2.0 and Final Cartridge 3 on a real Commodore 64.
Listing is for the adapter only. PS/2 mouse and C64 are not included.
The 1351-mouse is analog. It requires the analog inputs of the Sound Interface Device (SID) chip. Sadly, many SIDs have stopped working overtime. Fortunately, there are modern replacements on the market. However, some of these replacements, such as the Nano SwinSID, do not support analog inputs.
In order for this adapter to work, you must either have an original SID or a SID-replacement which has analog inputs. (Most modern replacements do not.)
I designed this PCB and soldered the boards. Viacheslav Slavinsky designed the schematic and wrote the firmware as part of his [M]ouse project. Check out his page to get a great look at how this adapter works. He has a nice set of scope shots that explain the operation.
Since I only did the PCB and soldering, I am only selling the extra board I built.
