Description:

The “2M Arduino 818-3.7v” board (main photo and photo 1) in conjunction with the “Solar Pro Mini” board (photo 2) is an APRS low power application for use as vehicle position, weather station, balloon launches, and remote stations. With the “Trackuino 818 Pro Mini Plus” software the unit reports position, weather, and telemetry frames. The “Trackuino 818 Pro Mini Plus” software is based on the original Trackuino software.

The major components of the 2M Arduino 818-3.7v (main photo and photo 1) include:

• GPS NEO-6M GPS module
• SA818 VHF Transceiver module for ½ w or 1 w applications
• 7-element low pass filter for 2 meters
• SMA Female 50-ohm connector

Options are:

• Call sign and testing so the unit reports "out of the box".
• BME280 sensor to measure internal temperature, humidity, barometric pressure. (photo 3)
• DS18b20 temperature probe to measure external temperatures (photo 4)

The “Solar Pro Mini” board(photo 2):

• Accommodates a power source from 3 solar panels or a USB port
• a charging circuit for a 3.7 lithium battery with overcharge and low battery protection.
• a solar panel and battery voltage sensors
• a FET power switch for power management
• a GPIO and analog header for D4, D5, D7, A6, and A7
• provide pins for the I2C device

Note: A micro-USB cable, 3.7v lithium battery, and solar panels are not included with the board. The following ratings are suggested for a battery and solar panels:

• A 3.7v, 1200mah or greater lithium battery such as a 18650 type
• Solar panels capable of 5.5v, 300ma, solar input voltage not to exceed 8 volts

The “2M Arduino 818-3.7v” and the “Solar Power Pro Mini” pair of boards provide a compact, low-power APRS solution and possibilities of other transmission modes.

The “2M Arduino 818-3.7v” board was designed around the flexibility of the SA181 transceiver module. With the 818-transceiver module, it can be programmed to different frequencies and transmission modes. The ability to change frequencies will accommodate different APRS areas and jurisdictions. Along with the APRS transmission mode, other modes such RTTY, SSTV, etc. is possible by switching frequencies.

The “Solar Power Pro Mini” board is the heart for low power applications where a FET power switch is used with power management software. The ability to use I2C devices and access to a few GPIO is provided without the requirement of another board. No software for the GPIO is provided because it is user-specific.
