A serial port adapter for the HP 1000CX and related Palmtop PCs. It adapts the small 10-pin serial port connector on the device to a standard male DB9 connector.

Because of the small form factor of the device, the serial port is implemented as a 10-pin 2mm-pitch header with a keyed socket, but is otherwise electrically the same as a standard DP9 socket. This device uses a PCB to adapt the small plug out to a standard 9-pin male serial connector.

Please be aware that this product is hand-made and uses 3D printed components. It will not have the same durability and finish as a commercially produced product.

The HP 1000CX and its variants were released in 1993 to 1995 and was one of the first "palmtop" PCs. It runs on an Intel 80186 CPU and includes a version of DOS 5.0 in ROM. For I/O the device uses a PCMCIA port, IRDA, and a serial port. Because it is running an Intel x86 architecture, as well as DOS 5.0, this device is able to run versions of Windows 3.0 and earlier (not requiring protected mode), and other DOS software. This adapter allows you to connect serial devices like a mouse, or another computer, or a WiFi adapter (available by other makers on Tindie).

This device MAY be compatible with related devices like the HP 95LX, 100LX, and 200LX, however I have not confirmed this yet. If anybody knows or would like to do some testing please contact me. :)
