Lights blinking in patterns -- amaze your friends!

I'm not sure why I find this little gizmo so affecting, but I do. It sits quietly in my office, blinking away, requiring nothing of me other than a couple of batteries every couple of months - a small price to pay for its steadfast amusement. Friends have remarked on it and I've given a couple as gifts to good effect. I have zero idea of how to program it or what else to do with it, and I simply don't care. Res ipsa loquitur.
