What is it?

Do you remember Kit from the Knight Rider series? This circuit is a DOUBLE set of LEDs that swipe back and forth similar to the original Kit car.

You don't need solder both sets of LEDs but it does make for a cool effect. This board is relatively large but can be used as the base for another project.

Using the onboard potentiometer, you can adjust the speed of the LED swipe. It goes from 'off' to 'insane'!

Why did you make it?

Kids love to solder. Although, so do adults.

I designed the board initially for kids to solder in our clubs and camps. It is very easy to solder even if you have never soldered before.

If you are buying just the PCB, you will need these components:

555 Timer
4017 Counter
100k Potentiometer
3-1k Resistor (or something similar)
1uF Capacitor
100nF (103) or similar capacitor (not really critical)
8 Diodes, I used 1N4007 but any would do
12 LEDs (any will do as long as they are the same)
Micro USB and/or Screw Terminal

What makes it special?

You can buy this as just the PCB or a complete kit. If you're like me, you probably already have all of these components on-hand today. Although, if you'd rather buy it as a kit, I offer that option as well.

Don't worry about that micro USB jack, I will solder that on for you before I send the PCB or kit.
