This experimental instrument has 8 built in oscillators, 2 Low pass filters and an additional RC Filter to reduce noise in the case of EMF interference. One filter controls 3 of the oscillators and the other controls the other 5. The different style of potentiometer (a joystick, vertical potentiometers and wheel potentiometers) for certain oscillators gives a multitude of options when performing or creating. Each voice has an LED that modulates in time wit the oscillator. The mute switches for each voice allow the user to use as many of the voices as needed. This oscillator bank uses a modified S9018 Bipolar Transistor to create a pitch-adjustable square wave using the reverse avalanche effect. (Transistors are modified by cutting the center leg off before soldering) Each oscillator can be individually pitch controlled using onboard cv ports.
I designed this board to achieve a sound somewhere between a 3 voice chord, an orchestrated swarm and just droning noise (see video for audio demo).
**NOTE ON CAPACITORS: Each channel has a suggested capacitor value but these can be adjusted and played with for different sounds. A higher value will give a lower range of sound (i.e. a 10uf capacitor will give a much higher pitch than a 100uf capacitor).
This board has an additional RC filter in case you are using this synth in an area of high EMF interference. This is not necessary for use and can be bypassed by jumping RF1 with a piece of wire. This board has the space for a power jack to be soldered down or a 9volt battery.
Board comes at 15.5cm * 8.7cm and runs on 9volt DC power. Power cable not included.
Because of COVID-19, my component shipments have been greatly delayed. This synth will currently be offered as just the board (with no components) but kits and fully assembled version will be made available in the future. See Product options for partial kits.
