What is it?

KOMPASS DIGITAL MINI SYNTH:

Based on Dr. Bleep's nebulophone, we created Kompass, a digital mini synth with an isomorphic, capacitive tactile interface. We designed it with performance and aesthetics in mind. We placed all controls on the left side for ergonomics, elegantly distributed the key panel and made traslucent led indicators for a minimalistic and sophisticated look.

Kompass' keyboard arrangement allows for easy experimentation with musical modes, namely Doryan, Lydian and Phrygian. The touchplate is tune in a Dmaj Scale and it can range trhough 5 octaves. While it allows for musical experimentation, it is not necessary to be a fully trained musician to explore the misteries of sound sinthesis. Kompass is equiped with a capable VCO (8 different waveforms) and a LFO based on a vactrol (led and photo resistor) controlled circuit that enables the VCO to be modulated in many different ways.

Kompass runs on a 12v AC adapter (we include a US wallwart with every unit).

This is a fully assembled unit. We operate on a human scale and assemble each and every one of them with a lot of care and love ❤.

Why did you make it?

We are truly passionate about synths and experimental sound technologies and wanted to create a synth with an interesting and unorthodox interface.
