Taking Control

Using CH3: Solder CH3 jumper, connect 3R/C to RX. Switch control using CH3 on your remote.
Using CH1: Un-solder CH3 jumper or disconnect 3R/C. Turn your remote on to take over, off to relinquish control.

Some remote control receivers generate a failsafe signal with the transmitter off, in which case you'd need to use CH3 control.

This thing saved my bacon more than a few times!

This makes it easy to switch between autonomous vehicle and fun RC car from the remote. That means I can test my vehicle without fear that it will just run off and crash. I put this on a Traxxas Slash and had no problems. I found out that even though there are only two controls on the transmitter, there are 3 channels on the transmitter and receiver. A quick added switch and I was able to change easily between Arduino control and RC control from the remote. Without this I would still be chasing after my runaway robot!
