Overview

The Solid-State Sidekick is a high-power solid-state relay module that allows you to control practically any legal AC appliance. "Solid-state" means that there are no physical contacts being moved inside the relay, so you can sit back and enjoy no-noise operation! The Sidekick's robust C14 connector and heavy-duty C13 power cable allows for easy plug-and-play usage and a rocker switch cuts off power to the controlled system. The module accepts a logic input from a convenient screw terminal which can be a voltage anywhere from 3V to 15V, making it perfect for Arduino, ESP32, or any other 3.3V or 5V microcontroller. Simply switch the input high to activate the solid-state relay or switch the input low to turn it off! Used in conjunction with PID temperature control the Sidekick can be used to transform a toaster oven into a PCB reflow oven.

Tech Specs

The Sidekick packs a powerful punch and can be used for high-current AC appliances when smaller relays simply aren't adequate. Its plug-and-play flexibility and low control voltage add a great deal of flexibility for easy interfacing with a microcontroller and for safe operation!

• Relay control voltage: 3-15VDC, perfect for any 3.3V or 5V microcontrollers! A screw terminal allows for easy and secure connection of the two control wires.
• Output rating: 12-280VAC output voltage range with a current rating of 25A/240VAC (max spec with convection cooling), 10A/240VAC typical, or 20A/120VAC (good for any legal AC appliance in the USA).
• Module power: Accepts a standard C13 power cord (included) that plugs into the matching C14 connected onboard while the other end plugs directly into a standard 120VAC wall outlet. The device connects the ground pin for safety.
• Appliance power: There is a standard NEMA outlet for the controlled appliance. The appliance is only switched on when the relay is activated. Note that if you are in a country that uses 240VAC you will need to get a 120V-to-240V adapter.
• Power switch: The module has a power switch that shuts off or enables the whole shebang.
