What is it?

Sensor board for the extremely accurate Bosch BMP585 Air Pressure and Temperature sensor.

The highly accurate BMP585 is carefree and ready for any adventure. With its exceptional precision, the BMP585 can detect height changes of just a few centimeters. It can even track movements such as individual push-ups. It is extremely rugged, thanks to the BMP585's gel-filled cavity that protects it against water, other liquids, and chemicals.

The sensor can be used for applications such as height measurement, water-level detection, and navigation, with a maximum absolute accuracy of ±0.50 hPa and a temperature coefficient offset (TCO) of ±0.005 hPa/K.
The new BMP585 sensor, with its small footprint, offers outstanding design flexibility, providing a single-package solution that is easy to integrate into other devices.

Easily connect the BMP585 via I2C. The operating voltage ranges between 1.2v and 3.6v, typically 1.8v to 3.3v. This sensor is not designed to use more than 3.6v and we did not add a level shifter on the sensor board to keep it small and not add cost.

Why did you make it?

This is the latest Bosch Sensor that I couldn’t find available anywhere else.

What makes it special?

Advantages:

• Designed for 3.3v Raspberry Pi but it can also be used with Arduino when powered with 3.3v.
• Designed for I2C communication.
• Easy to change I2C default address from #47 to #46 with a solder blob (see 3rd image above).
• Water-resistant sensor and this board is easy to waterproof. Bosch claims it is resistant to alcohol, salt water, chlorinated pool water, various solvents, and dusty environments.
• Over 10x more accurate than the old BMP390, BMP280, and BMP180 sensors.
• Cheaper than Bosch Shuttle Board, that you need to hack and has un-friendly pins so it can't be used with standard breadboards

The pin header comes unsoldered so you are free to connect directly to cables instead.

It has no onboard level-shifter to 5V in order to be small and cheap, so only power it with 3.3v.
