The JoyPad is a fully customizable macro-keypad with OLED display and Joystick, running CircuitPython!

The JoyPad comes fully assembled. The brain is a Raspberry Pi PICO. The keypad uses MX style tactile keys. There is a 128x64 OLED display. The joystick is the same as those used on popular game controllers. There is even a mini tone speaker.

Why is it called the JoyPad?

Well ... umm ... "joystick" + "macropad". Yeah, not very original. But, since it's fully customizable you can call it whatever you like 😜

What is the JoyPad used for?

The JoyPad comes pre-installed as a macro keypad and mouse controller.

But it can do so much more!

You can ...

• use it for video editing with macros for your most used tasks (you could even configure the joystick for jog/shuttle)
• have keys assigned to help with writing or software development
• configure it for your video games
• use it as a midi controller (there is a music demo with pitch bend to get you started)
• set it up to control your CNC or OpenPnP machine
• go wild with macros for your accounting spreadsheets
• and so many more ideas - let your imagination run wild!

Customization

Thanks to the JoyPad's CircuitPython library, customization is easy.

The latest CircuitPython, libraries, and sample program are pre-installed. There are extra examples included on the GitLab project page.

But what if I am not a programmer?

If you are not familiar with CircuitPython or do not have an interest in programming, the documentation walks you through the most common customizations (like changing a key or the color of the LEDS). There are examples which go step by step so you can make the JoyPad do your bidding with minimum effort.

And if I am a programmer?

The code is all open source under the MIT license so you can even change the library if you want. (You are also encouraged to post your changes for inclusion into the open source for others to enjoy.)

Options

The JoyPad comes fully assembled and the software pre-installed. It includes the MX style tactile keys, joystick, OLED scree, buzzer, and the Raspbery Pi PICO.

There are several options to add to the JoyPad, depending on your needs ...

• full set of blank DSA keycaps
• laser engraved DSA keycaps (3 keycaps are left blank for the keys with are unassigned in the sample code)
• black acrylic face plate with mounting hardware
