What is it?

This is a mostly-read to use kit to build your own ESPresense Bluetooth presence detection sensor for use with Home Assistant.

Why did you make it?

I wrote about the ESPresense project on my blog a few months ago and I've been blown away by how incredible it is. I got some feedback from someone who did not have easy access to a 3D-printer wanting to know if I sold the ESP32 cases, so I designed an ESP32 D1 Mini case and started selling them on Tindie!

But in the middle of designing the case, I realized others might think that sourcing and flashing an ESP32 development board might be an obstacle too. So I decided I'd try and put together this ESPresense Base Station.

What makes it special?

This ESPresense Base Station is nearly ready to use. With each base station you'll get:

An ESP32 D1 Mini flashed with the current version of ESPresense
A 3D-printed ESP32 D1 Mini Case
A short USB Micro Power/Data cable
An option to include a 5V 1A USB power adapter (US Plug) for $1.50.

All you'll need to do is get it connected to your WiFi, provide the details about your Home Assistant's MQTT broker, and begin to which Bluetooth device(s) you want ESPresense to keep track of.

Is there a bulk discount?

Yes! The price drops when you order 5 or more ESPresense Base Stations. In fact, because of the discount it's a better deal to buy five base stations that it is to buy four!

What if I don't see a color that I like?

I almost exclusively print with Bambu Labs PLA Basic filament. If there's a color of filament that I can add to my collection that'll lead to more people making purchases, I'm open to buying it! Send my store a message on Tindie with your preference and I'll see what I can do!
