A huge amount of my projects boiled down to fetching data from some place on the internet and displaying it on a screen.
Any screen shields that are readily available for a D1 mini have too small displays for what I wanted (0.66")
Since these small screens were not an option, I was getting pretty tired of wiring up the exact same wires over and over again just to connect the D1 mini to the display! The OLED screens aren't that big of a deal as there are only 4 wires, but the Nokia screen has 8 wires and was definitely a pain!
This shield makes connecting up these larger displays as simple as possible!
Glad you asked. This my first version of the PCB and there are some mistakes on it. They are nothing that prevents it from working, and I have been using it happily since I got it so I decided to list it anyways to see was there much interest in a product like this. But I wanted to make you aware of the issues so you can decide for yourself are they a concern for you.
It DOES NOT include an D1 mini EPS8266 or screens!
I created a post on my website that has some basic instructions for assembly and setup
Please note that I do not send any documentation with the board. There is a sticker with a link and QR code to the above URL. I feel it's wasteful to send on documentation when I can provide much better documentation on the web page than I could in a small sheet of paper.
Check out this Github repo for examples on how to use both types of screen, the comments on the top of the example sketches talk about what libraries to install to get them working.
