Good product without support

I purchased 3 pieces of these I2C dimmer in order to relieve the ESP32 in esphome - Home Assistant. The boards seem to be well designed and nearly perfectly soldered. During Installation I unfortunately noticed, that there is no support for the dimmer in esphome and a custom component is more or less the only solution to write dimm value into ATmega which finally makes the pwm. On github I found some custom component integration files, perhaps written by Mr. Krida, but they are only designed for the 4 channel I2C dimmer, I tried to adopt these h files without big success as my c-programming skills are about 35 years in the past, but communication works, I always get errors like TimerOne.h not installed or similar (but as far as I know the lib is standard lib in esphome) ... however, I already spent too much time for these boards, so my dream of a pretty I2C bus dimmer solution was burst as the seller offers no support and even can't write an answer e.g. like "I offer no support" or similar, apparently too much customers ;-)

Great product with some obvious ommissions

This is great. As a dimmer it works flawlessly as far as I can tell. PCB is high quality. Programming it is easy, though you do have to be aware that above a certain duty cycle (like 97%) you have to just clamp it to 100% otherwise the next zero-crossing interrupt can come before the duty timer which causes flickering.

Probably possible to avoid that properly but it isn't worth the effort.

So the ommissions:

1. This has a full microcontroller on it so it seems weird to only use it as an I2C slave. Break out more pins! I am not using it as an I2C slave - I just used one of the two pins that are broken out to connect to a PIR sensor. I also had to remove the pullup but that's fine.

2. The microcontroller is not powered by the mains input, despite the board having a 12V PSU on it. So this means you need to supply another separate 5V PSU. It would be nice if the board just had a 12V-to-5V regulator on it.

Yes that would mean it isn't fully isolated, but in most cases this is surely just going in a sealed box somewhere so it doesn't matter.

Alternatively it could be optional - just provide 5V output pads on one side and 5V input on the other and I will connect them with a wire.

Overall, great product and there's no competition that I could find so buy this one. But with a few tiny changes it could be way better.

Oh also the designer wouldn't send me a schematic for some reason (not sure why, it's easy but time consuming to figure out), but they did at least reply which is nice.
