What makes it special?

INPUT

SCLD rev10 was designed to operate from a 5V power source. A 5V solar panel or wall adapter can be used

CHARGER

SCLD is charging a single series lithium battery with up to 500mA There is an onboard battery protection against over-discharging/over-charging/short circuit or over-current events as well as battery reverse polarity insertion

LED DRIVER OUTPUT

SCLD rev10 has a SEPIC converter in constant current mode as the output LED driver. This allows SCLD to drive ANY led from as little as 1.8V and up to 24V forward voltage. Efficiency is around 75% on average (using the battery from 4.2 down to 3V). You can set the output current using 4 solder jumpers for 20-150-300-500mA The driver has open LED protection but it is advised to avoid connecting battery/external power without a LED connected. Your only consideration using SCLD is setting the LED current correctly for the LED you are going to use. Set to 20mA output, it can for example turn on 7 white LED (forward voltage 3.3V)

LIGHT SENSOR

SCLD rev10 is using a voltage comparator to enable the output. Using a solar panel it will turn on when there is not enough light

APPLICATIONS

SCLD's practical applications are only limited by your imagination! Using a solar panel it will act as a night light or garden light while using a mains powered 5V source it will turn the LED on when power fails acting as an emergency light. It is particularly well suited to replaced aging or failing NiCd/NiMH garden lights or to create your own!

Great board for Garden Lights

I've used a few of these to make replacement garden lights in my mothers garden, using disposable vape batteries and a 3D printed case, they're bright and last a long time, even in English weather! :)

Never got the item. Beware!

I ordered the SCLD v7 2 months ago. After a month I contacted the seller to inform that I hadn't received the item. He promised to ship a replacement. One month later I still have not received the charger. And I can see in the feedback there are other people sharing the same experience.
I don't recommend this seller.

Product not received, order placed on the 25th June 2020

I am very disappointed that I have not received the two SCLDv7 modules that I ordered back in June. Thus no product review to post.

The Tindie business needs to develop a reliable international delivery service for the products it is selling on the web site. There are many international provides ( UPS, etc ), I am sure a shipping cost could be agreed that would be acceptable to all concerned.
