What is it?

This platform of sensors to monitor air quality has been designed to support different communication protocols with a small footprint - the enclousure is 6cm x 6cm.

The air quality is indicated using a green/amber/red light. The air quality measurement derives from a MHZ19B (NDIR) CO2 sensor or from an SGP30 (TVOC) sensor. Both versions can be enhanced with a temperature and humidity sensor.

The platform is able to report the measured values using ModbusRTU, or Wifi(ESP8266-01 not included) that makes it very easy to access the values from a Raspberry Pi or similar. Example code for the ESP8266 sending data on MQTT and Python scripts to access the AQS-X01 via serial port are provided.

The sensor is provided with fully working firmware.

Why did you make it?

To monitor and evaluate the air quality in houses, offices and schools. During winter, when ventilation is less than summer and also, with the current Covid19 pandemia, it has highlighted that ventilation is a key factor to lower the risk of transmission.
