What is it?
This board is added to the underside of the "Nintendeo Entertainment System" main board. The FPGA on the board listens to the digital communication between the PPU (Picture Procesing Unit) and the rest of the system and re-generates the video output in a near-digital form. This output signal (we call it 'lumacode') can then be flawlessly upscaled to a pixel-perfect HDMI signal using an RGBtoHDMI, and OSSC or something with equal capabilities.
Why did you make it?
This is the next piece in my lineup of lumacode adapters for 8-bit computers and consoles.
What makes it special?
This is the first such modification that only needs to listen to the digital signals on the board without altering the operation of the original hardware. So composite video output still works unchanged and can be used in parallel with the addded Lumacode capability.
Compatibility
By now the board is compatible and tested with PAL machines and all NTSC machines that use the most common 2C02G PPU.
Other NTSC PPUs will probably work, but may show some glitches in rare circumstances. Please let me know if you encounter any problems.

Solid construction, easy install, works great
This is my first major mod of the NES. Prior to this I had done some cap replacements and even replaced some transistors. But this was the easiest work I've done on the NES, and it works perfectly right out of the box. I love this and intend to buy several more. Great product!

PPU Digitizer Install
I installed the PPU Digitizer in an NTSC front loading NES. Everything is working great. I'm using it in conjunction with my OSSC. I already had the firmware updated on my OSSC (you will need to be on 1.11a firmware), just had to tweak a few settings. Very pleased with the results, especially seeing them in person! Just an FYI to anyone planning on doing this, and re-purposing the RF RCA jack... it is possible your RF/IO board will be different than than the picture showed in the diagram; the concept is still the same, just will be slightly different of a procedure (possibly). Excellent product!

A quick and easy option with great results.
I installed this digitizer board into my NTSC NES which has an existing NESRGB mod installed. Lumacode worked great, so long as the NESRGB is toggled off (original PPU video mode). As far as I can tell, the NESRGB video quality isn't compromised at all either.
As of this review the firmware for the NES is in beta, however the results are very good! The color pallette is great, but I hope to see some type of customizable color pallette implementation in the future.
