This adapter board sits between the VIC-IIe (the graphics chip of the Commodore 128) and its socket. It passively listens to all relevant digital data traffic and reconstructs the intended color for every pixel on the screen. This information is then encoded into a standard resolution video signal in a specific way that can be losslessly decoded to a pixel-perfect HDMI signal.
The board comes with aligator clips to attach it to the existing RF output jack.
Why did you make it?
This one was done because of user requests. It is basically the same as the C64 variant, but in another form factor to fit the larger chip's pinout and with a slightly modified firmware.
What makes it special?
This solution does not try to directly generate HDMI or VGA, but creates the intermediary LumaCode signal, which requires very little effort. So the board can be made reasonably cheap. The heavy lifting is then done with an external upscaler (the RGBtoHDMI for example) which will be more expensive, but can be used with multiple machines.
Compatibility
The board will work with all revisions of the VIC-IIe. I took care to build the board in a form to fit all known C128 main boards as well.
Starting with 29.5.2024 all boards are shipped with the firmware version 2.6 which fixes the bug with the new FLESCOS graphics mode and also improves compatiblity with games that use the 2MHz mode to speed up computations.

When dreams come true!
I couldn´t believe my eyes when I saw the picturequality. It looks like it´s running in an emulator on a PC/Mac. Super easy to install even with my limited skills. Thinking of buying? Don´t think - just buy! You will not regret it! I also connected it to a HDMI Audio Embedder and it simply works. The best thing I´ve bought for my C128 in 30 years.

Amazing Results
I have found it hard to put into words just how happy I am after I installed your VICIIdizer128. This in combination of the RGB2HDMI has produced the single best 40 column screen for the C128 I have ever seen since having it on a 1902A monitor. I purchased c0pperdragon c64 component boards, with great results.
Now I purchased the c128 lumacode board, this is amazing, the lumacode "standard" is simple to install and simple to use......

A really great product!
Wonderful, I never had such a good picture quality for my old Commodore computers, thank you very much for this really great piece of hardware!
Now I'm using VIC II dizer for my C64 and my C128 and it is very impressive! Formerly I did know such a good picture quality only from an emulator on my PC. Now I have same good quality on real hardware!
Next I do this for my VC-20 and my Atari 800 also ...
