Easily add WiFi capabilities to any 3.3V or 5V Arduino that conforms to the UNO 3 footprint (UNO/Genuino, MEGA/MEGA2560, Due, etc). If your Arduino has a serial port, you can use this shield to give it WiFi capabilities.

NOTE: A cost-reduced 3.3v-ONLY version is this shield is available. The 3.3v-ONLY version should only be used with 3.3v Arduino boards like the Arduino Due. This version does not include the external WiFi antenna.

This shield uses serial protocol to communicate between the Arduino and on-board ESP8266 to allow for the use of existing HTTP/WiFi libraries, and leaves the SPI and I2C ports available for other uses.

• on-board ESP-07 with onboard and external antenna (3.3v/5V version) or ESP-12E (3.3v-ONLY version)
• on-board 3.3v regulator to provide plenty of power to the ESP8266 module
• built-in high-speed automatic voltage-level-translation allows for use of 3.3v and 5v Arduino boards and protects the ESP8266 GPIO pins from over-voltage (not available on 3.3v-ONLY version)
• can be configured to use the default hardware serial port on most Arduino boards (not supported on Arduino Due),
• can use SoftwareSerial on boards that support it (not supported on Arduino Due)
• external header allows TX/RX pins of ESP8266 to be connected to boards with extra serial ports like the MEGA and DUE, using included jumper wires
• dip switch to connect RESET and CH_PD from ESP8266 to Arduino D4/D5 pins to allow for reset and shutdown of the ESP8266 via sketch.
• allows for easy automatic flashing of the ESP8266 (requires USB-serial adapter) via either the Arduino IDE or the ESP Flash Tool, allowing you to update firmware or flash custom software to the ESP8266.
• program/run switch to allow easy automated reboot and update when flashing firmware to the ESP8266
• constructed using high-quality components
• Arduino RESET momentary switch on-board (does not support Arduino DUE)
• RESET momentary switch for ESP8266 on-board
• FLASH momentary switch for ESP8266 on-board
• 5-pin programming header with DTR pin for flashing ESP8266 or debugging serial communications
• comes with external WiFi antenna to allow for greater range, or can use on-board Wifi antenna (not included with 3.3v-ONLY version)

This shield ships fully-assembled and includes (2) 4-inch male-to-female Dupont wires.
