What is it?

It's a decorative charm made with the durable materials and accurate methods of electronic printed circuit boards.

The charm has the mechanical design of a classic dog tag and is 1 mm thick. It has a transparent fiberglass core laminated to copper foil on both sides. The writing is etched through the copper foil down to the core, and the rest of the copper is coated by a layer of transparent yellow resin. On the edges and inside the keychain-compatible hole, a brilliant silver-metallic finish is created by dipping the entire tag in hot lead-free solder, which sticks only to these uncoated copper areas.

This is the exact same process of making functional circuit boards, which gives the charm a couple of unique qualities:

• The details are ultra-precise making the design elements vibrant with contrasts you can actually feel (from the different materials on the surface)
• The shiny areas have a fine texture to them, from the core's fiberglass weave
• Filigrane-looking and only 2 grams, but very sturdy (impossible to destroy by hand)
• Wear on the edges and keyring-hole exposes the copper underneath the tin coating (this looks cool)
• Heat-resistant up to at least 200°C

Allergy note: Please let me know if you get an allergic reaction from the product (usually a light rash after skin contact). I don't think there's a high enough concentration of Nickel in the lead-free HASL solder alloy that coats the edges and the keychain hole of the tag:

• 99% Sn
• 0.6% Cu
• 0.05% Ni
• 0.006% Ge

Why did you make it?

Circuit boards that have artistic value are usually limited to art on just one production layer (like the silkscreen). With this I tried out using combinations of graphics on many layers to give the design a mesmerizing clarity that qualifies it as a fashion accessory.

And I put different tags behind different keys on my keychain to quickly find em lol.

What makes it special?

It's art or a "fashion" item that's made like circuit boards -- which are usually hidden behind a nicely designed case in order to be fashionable. These tags are meant to be worn and seen prominently!
