What is it?

Stereo VU meter based on a character 16x2 LCD display, which is controlled by microcontroller Atmega8A.

Why did you make it?

I am an audio freak and I needed VU meter for my new amplifier project. To me came the idea as audio level indicator to use a character 16x2 LCD, which could be controlled by a microcontroller. Additional feature of the microcontroller is that it samples the audio signal by its ADC and processes it further as signal strength level

What makes it special?

Small sized VU meter, which contains active rectifier circuitry, microcontroller sampling the stereo signal and displaying it level on the 16x2 LCD. The VU meter can be supplied by voltage source in the range 6 - 12V. The VU meter can be adjusted for signals with amplitude from 100mV to 50V by two trimmer-potentiometers. The VU meter is offered in two versions : with blue negative, and green positive displays.
