This is a replacement tact switch and circuit board, or PCB, for the Inventables Carvey Smart Clamp assembly, used in many of their CNC routers. The original boards which this is designed to replace are labeled "16059" or "45008 REV-2."

THIS IS NOT THE FULL SMART-CLAMP ASSEMBLY. Some photos show the aluminum, but this is just for your visual reference. This item is just the circuit board, intended to replace the switch board alone.

You may find that the original "Smart Clamp" assembly's switch board fails, with legs mechanically damaged over time. Attempts to fix with hand-soldering often result in lifted pads.

My version of the board is much more mechanically robust. It features:

• "Staked" traces that spider outwards from each tact switch leg to a larger plane of copper

• Vias that connect these planes to another plane on the bottom for additional stability

• "Gullwing" style switches that can be user replaced with a soldering iron

• Additional small capacitor to reduce signal noise

• High-quality, name-brand OMRON switches rated for 100K cycles (note: the Carvey applies excessive force, so you may not actually get 100K cycles out of the switch. But this switch's rating is as good or better than the original part.)

Heavy users will eventually need to replace the whole assembly after the router bits devour enough of the aluminum, but this board should let you get much more use out of a failing Smart Clamp before that becomes necessary.
