What is it?

An SAO for our Whovians, Cassandra is a backlit flex PCB suspended on a frame. This is a soldering kit and will require assembly. The LEDs and resistors are surface mount.

The kit includes:

PCB (Printed Circuit Board)
Instruction card with flex PCB inside
SAO connector
4 LEDs
4 resistors
Sticker

Why did you make it?

We love Dr Who and wanted to continue making things that pay homage to it. Making Cassandra has been a dream for a while and we finally pulled it off! The flex PCB makes a great substitute for skin and also serves as the "bolts" on the outside of the frame.

Important Info

This is an SAO, which means that it's meant to go on an electronic badge from DEFCON or similar conferences that support the SAO connector. It does not have its own power source. If you feel so inclined, you could wire 3.3V directly to it instead.

A worthwhile challenge

Behold! The Last Human! Let's be clear, this is not a first time soldering project. You'll want to practice with through-hole and larger surface mount components before giving this kit a try. But you know what a SAO is, you're leet, you've seen a CVE or two and the dirty side of the global offset table.... you'll manage. MKFactor delivers another fantastic bit o swag.
