Locally I have some learn to solder workshops coming up and I was struggling to find a small simple quick kit to purchase for these workshops. So I made my own! This is a really simple beginners soldering project where you assemble a coin cell holder and 2 slow fading RGB LED's, that gently scroll through all the colours, onto a PCB.

The LED's have a flat side for the cathode and make sure this lines up with the flat side on the white silkscreen footprint for the LEDs. The coin cell holder (which takes a common CR2032 battery NOT SUPPLIED) needs to have the open end away from the LED's and facing the top of the PCB so the battery can be slid in easily.

At the top of the PCB there are 2 mount holes. This gives you a few options, you can simply tie the assembled PCB to some cordage or a necklace to use it as a large glowy pendant, or you could solder a wire across the gap between the holes and make it a keychain. A final alternate is that when you fit the LED's you can leave the component legs on the back of the PCB and it will then stand on a desktop! So MANY ways to show off you can solder!
