Use this device to trigger your Canon, Sony, or Nikon dSLR camera from a Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or any other 3.3V or 5V input signals.

Dev Boards (Arduino, ESP32, etc.)

This module is great for prototyping with dev boards like Arduino and ESP32, as well as many others. The female header accepts male jumpers wires. Simply connect them from your dev board's digital output port and into the trigger's GND and +5V ports. Set the digital out to HIGH and it will trigger the camera.

Raspberry Pi

This compact module is designed to connect directly onto the Raspberry Pi's GPIO port, and provides a 3.5mm output jack that connects to your dSLR camera using standard audio extension cables. It is tiny enough to sit within most Raspberry Pi cases, although a hole may need to be created to allow the trigger cable to exit.

OctoPrint & 3D Printing

This device is handy for creating computer-controlled timelapses, and works well with Octoprint's Octolapse plugin. This trigger can also be connected to a printer's GPIO ports to take advantage of the printer's built-in functionality.

Camera Protection

The connected camera is isolated and protected from the controlling device (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, etc.). No signals or electricity are transferred between the input and output sides of the module.

Note: Some cameras may require an adapter if they don't use standard audio type connectors.

Raspberry Pi Connection Instructions:

1. Locate the GPIO header pins 39 (Ground) and 40 (GPIO 21). They are the last two pins closest to the USB and Ethernet ports.
2. Identify the female +5V and GND pins on the trigger, and orient the trigger so that the GND pin lines up with GPIO pin 39 (Ground), and +5V pin lines up with GPIO pin 40 (GPIO 21). The trigger module should be components side down.
3. Push the trigger module onto the GPIO header pins
4. Connect a 3.5mm audio cable to the trigger module and interface it with your camera using appropriate cables/adapter.
