This is an Onion Omega breakout for prototyping, one that helps you prototype faster and can be built into your project after the prototyping is done. It's small but prototyping-friendly, and it properly breaks out all the GPIOs and functions. In short, that's a flexible breakout that you don't need to rebuild your case for in case you're building something complicated. Oh, and the design files are open-source. Bring your own 3.3V!

I'm building a portable 4G/WiFi/Ethernet router (yet again), and I decided that Onion Omega would be a suitable base. I didn't like the Onion Omega breakout I got with the Omega - it's basically built on a power bank IC, it's hard to control and it's not terribly power-efficient (neither is Omega, but that's another story). Besides, I need a prototyping-friendly router platform that still allows the router to be portable. So, I designed this breakout, been using it and I like it - you might like it too!

Features:

• All of the GPIOs broken out
• Plenty of GND and VCC pins
• All pin names on silkscreen - both Omega pins and connector pins (no need to look up schematics while prototyping)
• Connectors for USB (JST-SH 4P), Ethernet (JST-SH 6P), all GPIOs I2C, SPI, I2S, UART0 and UART1
• USB and Ethernet exposed on JST-SH connectors (for compactness and signal integrity reasons)
• I2C pinout matches Raspberry Pi and ZeroPhone Delta
• SPI&I2S pinout matches ZeroPhone Delta
• Power: 2.54mm header for 3.3V input
• Buttons for RST and FW_RST
• Can throw in a QWIIC expansion board

Base includes:

• PCB with buttons and USB (JST-SH 4P) connector soldered on
• Short (~5cm) JST-4P pigtail cable for connecting USB - let me know if you need a longer cable
• pigtail = connector on one end, tinned wires on the other
• 2pcs 2mm headers for Omega
• 3pcs 2.54mm angled female headers for GPIO (5p, 8p and 12p)
• 2pcs 2.54mm 3-pin male headers for UARTs

Add Ethernet and get:

• HR-91105A breakout (with built-in magnetics) with soldered JST-SH 6P cable (tested)
• JST-SH 6P soldered on the PCB
