What is it?

Introducing a “piggy-back” diesel heater remote controller. This device makes your “dumb” diesel heater “smart” by directly interfacing to the OEM 4-button RF remote control using a WIFI enabled microcontroller (ESP32).

Why did you make it?

Wanted a simple way to interface to my diesel heater without having to deal with decoding protocols.

What makes it special?

The controller features a webserver allowing for timed events (e.g. heater off) and the setting of target temperatures to maintain (e.g. thermostat). It features an onboard temperature and humidity sensor with real-time clock module that will keep time even after power is lost. Upon 1st power on, the device creates a WebAP allowing for initial WIFI setup .

Options include PCB or PARTIAL Kit (includes all components below EXCEPT the TTGO T-display ESP32 microcontroller, LIPO battery & hookup wiring)

The PCB accepts the following components: - 1 x TTGO T-display (ESP32) - 4 x 220 ohm 1/4W Resistor - 1 x HTU21D (Temperature/humidity sensor) - 1 x DS3231 RTC (clock) - 1 x 16-pin DIP socket - 1 x Sharp PC847 (opto-isolator) - 1 x 4-pin JST wire+connector - 1 x 6-pin header - 1 x Lipo battery (optional) - Various wires
