March 2024 UPDATE - New ROB Goggles Design limited quantities AVAILABLE NOW

What is it?

This is a set of custom made add on goggles to control the original 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System accessory R.O.B (Robotic Operating Buddy).

The goggles are modeled to fit R.O.B.s face and 3D printed, inside there is a board with the required electronics and optics to flash control commands in the pattern that R.O.B. needs.

The board inside the goggles has a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module that connects to a mobile app, it has an onscreen classic gaming controller for up, down, left, right movements as well as open and close arms commands.

Why did you make it?

R.O.B. uses a light sensor in its left eye designed to pick up control commands through CRT TV screen flashes in game, modern HDTVs do not have the required screen refresh rates thus making R.O.B. obsolete nowadays. We wanted to find a way to bring back to action the iconic R.O.B.

What makes it special?

NO tear down, no breaking anything apart, no intrusive modifications to your precious (rare and expensive) R.O.B. collector's piece.

What do you get?

You will get a fully working, ready to go, assembled 3D printed goggles form fitted for R.O.B with electronic board that will connect to an app available for free in the Apple App store for iPhone and iPad. Boards are loaded with functional firmware, no programming required.

That this is entirely a labor of love, we are doing this for the people that has contacted us asking for a set of goggles to have their R.O.B.s active again. We are not making profit from this, the selling price only helps to cover the cost of parts and assembly, we're building a very limited number of goggles and it will likely be the first and only time we'll make them available.
