What is it?

u2-SX is a completely open source second-generation OCM hardware, using the QMTECH EP4CE15F23 core board and fully compatible with SM-X HB firmware.

Why did you make it?

This is my promise to KdL. We all hope that the second generation OCM will become an open hardware standard rather than a plaything for a few people. The OCM hardware itself is open source, so the second generation OCM developed based on OCM should be open source. No one seemed willing to do this before, so I did it.

What makes it special?

Compared with first-generation OCM (such as uMSX) and other second-generation OCM hardware, it has the following characteristics:
1. Only VGA video output.
2. No cassette audio input function.
3. Pre-audio amplifier, which can adjust the total volume and the volume of each cartridge.
4. IB0505S power filter reduces power supply noise.
5. Franky firmware is pre-installed and can run a few SMS games.
6. No OPL3 function.
I plan to develop second generation OCM hardware based on EP4CE22F17: u2-SX Mini2 to support mono OPL3, and u2-SX HD with HDMI video output.
