What is it?

The Amadeus board is an interface between your computer and two YM2149 (also known as AY-3-8910) chips. To translate the commands from the USB to the integrated circuits there's a ATmega328-P microcontroller that can be reprogrammed.

Why did you make it?

While browsing online I found the great sound that these old chips made, and wondered how could they be used in the current era. After prototyping with them this summer with an Arduino I decided that I wanted to make this project, not only more powerful (as 3 channels per IC are very limiting. But also that I wanted to make it a standalone, therefore, needing only power and a USB connection to send it commands.

What makes it special?

Thanks to the fact that the "brain" of the Amadeus board is an ATmega328p (the same chip as an Arduino Nano), it's easy to use for everyone, casual tinkers and amateurs alike ^-^ Also, you can not only play your own music, but also upload your own code !

What am I buying?

When ordering an Amadeus board you will get the board fully tested (USB and MIDI). No cables will be included. When ordering, please specify what software you want to have installed, either for USB or MIDI use. You will be able to upload your own code afterwards too.

When buying

Please, specify what software do you wish to have installed : MIDI or USB. By default it will come with USB.

EDIT 05/05/21: The MIDI capabilities have been proven, the board is able to receive, decode and play the MIDI signal that it receives. Here is a video showing the setup.

The USB connection goes to the wall to power the board. Thanks for your patience !
