Read More…It's a shield that you stack on top or bottom of a WeMos D1 Mini development board, that lets you connect and control up to 20 hobby servos, using a simple I2C protocol. The two address-selection jumpers let you stack up to 4 such shields, allowing you to control a total of 80 servos at once from a single D1 Mini, using only two pins.
I needed a servo controller for my hexapod robot. Since it uses three servos for every leg, the total comes up to 18 servos. The existing servo controllers didn't satisfy my needs in terms of number of servos, size or price, so I just programmed an Pro Mini Arduino clone to generate the required PWM signal. Later I improved the code and design, and made it into a shield.
It fits on the WeMos D1 Mini and D1 Mini Pro boards, and it stacks because it uses angled headers. It controls a lot of servos for its small size, and it uses a very simple protocol for communication.
