What is it?

psvsd is a hardware mod for OLED PS Vita that replaces the obsolete 3G modem with a USB microSD card adapter. When used with a PSVita w/henkaku and the usbmc plugin, you can replace the expensive PS Vita memory card with any microSD card.

Features:

Greater speed and stability compared to SD2VITA.
It is inserted internally in the console (Replacing the modem that has little use in 3G models).
No It is not inserted in the game slot (physical), therefore you can continue using your official cartridges.

Great purchase

Fast shipping, no-nonsense installation. I recommend this shop! Installation is pretty plug and play, just watch a teardown video takes like 10 minutes max.

Awesome!!

Purchased both the PSVSD and extension adapter. Works as advertised! No issues at all. :D

Shipping was a little over 3 weeks to Australia and came well packaged with all required parts to complete the install.

Prep work completed beforehand by switching from YAMT to StorageMgr (recommended), removing both the 3G module and SIM card reader and running 3G disabler on the Vita.

Installation was as easy as installing the PSVSD (like any M.2 device), routing the extension cable to the repurposed SIM card slot and editing StorageMgr config file to use the PSVSD as ux0

Well worth the money and time investment if you have an old 3G PS Vita and want to breathe some new life into it.

The best Vita mod in 2024

Works as Advertised

Received package after about 3 weeks from Mexico to Florida. There was no rush so waiting for it was no problem. Installation is very quick and easy and changing the SD2VITA settings to be in the 3g slot are easy enough. Also bought the Extension cable so i could replace the SIM card slot with microSD and it works great. Very happy with this mod. Excellent Work

Great product! Shipping could be better

First of all, the product is perfect and easy to install, but be very careful about the original screws of the 3G module.
There is a really useful screwdriver shipped along with the adapter.

The shipping needs improvement, unfortunately. One month to arrive in Italy and the tracking was not updated. In addition, I had to pay 8€ for customs.

Works great on 3G PS Vitas, A must have, Legitimate seller

Product: Works as advertised. Has a small LED for SD card activity. The MicroSD slot is spring-loaded. The kit includes: the PSVSD module, a pair of screws, a screwdriver.

Shipment: Item shipped the next day. Took 29 days to deliver from Mexico to Philippines. Handled by Mexico Post, delivered by PhilPost directly on my door. Paid additional Php 212 for handling and customs fee.

Definitely a must have when owning the PS Vita. It frees up the game cartridge slot (SD2Vita).

Tips to future buyers:
-Format SD Card to ExFat with 64k cluster size.
-use StorageMgr instead of YAMT <link to StorageMgr: https://github.com/CelesteBlue-dev/PSVita-StorageMgr>
-while waiting for the PSVSD to arrive, remove the 3G module because the screws easily strips, I stripped the screws and had to buy a rotary tool to get the old module out. Luckily, replacement screws are provided with the kit.

Thank you Davis Store for still producing the PSVSD. I missed out on when I first heard it back in 2019. I bought 2 kits for good measure. Hope to buy more from you soon!

Also if you could produce the SD extension cable for the PSVSD, I would be happy to buy.

Excellent Product, Fast Shipping

The adapter was easy to install and use on my Vita, and the shipping was faster than expected. The only issue I had was that the tracking was not always up to date, which ended up with me finding the package already delievered and had been waiting outside for who knows how long, but that's not on the seller at all.

Great Product, Shipping was frustrating...

The quality of this PSVSD is fantastic. It comes with a screwdriver and screws, which is always a nice bonus. The vita is very easy to work with and this was a nice and quick install. My gripes more or less reside outside of the product itself. I paid 15 USD for Shipping, which is no small chunk of change. And it took 34 days to arrive to Canada after it was initially marked as shipped. I'm not blaming the seller, since obviously, they arent a shipping company. However, Mexico Post was horribly slow, was held without a tracking update for 15 days straight... twice. If seller could change who they ship with, I feel these problems wouldn't happen. Theres no excuse for it to take over a month to arrive to a country in the same continent.

Now my Vita is perfect!

I needed a PSVSD after I got my Vita cuz, I want to be able to play physical games like it’s original intent was. The installation is easy but, having a Japanese Vita, the screws were hard as hell to remove. But it’s installed and the plug-in and stuff installed and is working. Though for some reason I lost save data on one game, oh well.

A Must Buy For Any Avid Vita Owner

I missed out when the PSVSD first hit the homebrew scene and heard some horror stories from users on Reddit buying from China where the PCB had grounding issues. So when I came across it again being sold and getting high reviews on the Davis Store I had to pick one up.

Shipping took a long time (I'll get to that at the end) but I finally was able to get it in my hands and installed into my Vita.

Installation is straightforward if you take care and patience. I recommend you apply blu tack or tape to get better grip on the screws holding the 3G module, on my Vita they were super tight and I didn't want to risk stripping the screw heads. Coupled with a ribbon adapter (I found on eBay) that replaces the SIM card slot with an SD card slot I now have a fantastic handheld that can easily swap SD cards in and out without having to disassemble the Vita.

So the shipping, be very careful of your country's customs. Here in Ireland they held mine for months because their computer system literally said no to my package getting released. They wouldn't give me a good let alone a valid reason why they couldn't release it. I was livid to say the least with the custom's service here in Ireland. I spoke with Davis Store about the issue, that the PSVSD unit would be sent back. In good faith they sent another unit to me while the rejected package was sent back to Mexico.

I am still very grateful to them for doing that. All in all, great product manufactured by great people.

Worked perfectly as described but no documentation

I live in the US and received the package after maybe a week or so and the adapter itself works very well, it even came with extra screws and a screwdriver. It didn't come with any documentation and while installing the hardware was more or less obvious (following the iFixIt guide for removing the rear cover to gain access to the internals), the software requirement was less obvious. After some searching I was able to find it (https://psvsd.henkaku.xyz/ in case someone else needs it). If this was documented somewhere then I missed it...

Otherwise, it works exactly as intended and it's an absolute must if you want to keep playing physical games while also having a hacked OLED vita.

This is a quality PSVSD

This PCB is made with the recommendations laid out Yifanlu, packaged professionally, and includes all hardware to install. This seller produces consistency; I tried PCBWay and even for an order of 20 I cant get this price per with half the quality. The soldering appears wave flowed, bevel is there, plated (not going to cut it in half to confirm solid, plated is still top notch), alignment points to a centroid, not hand assembly. Truly an awesome manufacture run.
The screws and pressed ESD packaging are what make it a professional piece of kit over a caring hobbyist.

Works great

A little lost at first since I was going the YAMT route. Had to install the advanced version. Found this info from another forum super helpful
“I just got yamt installed on my vita and it is working so far with a few tweaks. I had to install the full version as yamt lite does not support PSVSD at the moment. I also had to disable "GC-SD patches" (I was not able to play physical vita game until I disabled this) and I had to use "force legacy USB/PSVSD mode" and "disable extra USB/PSVSD patches".”

Got the PSVSD within 2 weeks from North Amercia to Europe. Product was well packaged and working properly.
