What is it?

Fed up with the yellow OLED display in the Pure Evoke Flow radio dying? This kit is just the thing for you! It allows you to permanently replace the yellow OLED display with an attractive white-on-blue backlit LCD screen for better long term reliability!

**Features

Custom designed circuit board with STM32 microcontroller on board (preprogrammed!) to interface to the radio
Backlight auto-dims as needed, and brightness is adjustable from the radio menu
3d printed mounting bracket included
No soldering or programming required

**Things to be aware of - I don't recommend this if you use the radio on battery (not mains), as the display starts to flicker as the battery gets flat) - The viewing angle isn't as wide as with the original OLED display - Scrolling text has very slight smudging (but still readable) because of how LCDs work compared to OLEDs

Excellent product which saved my radio from the scrapheap

My Pure Evoke Flow had the usual faded OLED display, and was effectively useless, as none of the functions could be reliably accessed. This replacement display, which is really a pretty niche product, fitted very easily and worked right first time. Fitting instructions, which you download, were perfect. The display itself is excellent, and much better than the original.

I am really pleased to get my old radio back, and also not to have to scrap it.

Highly recommended.

Works fine and saving the planet!

After being told by Pure that my (already replaced due to screen) Evoke was not economically repairable, I was expecting that this unit would have to go to the dump and I'd have to buy a new radio. The kit is brilliantly engineered. Instructions were spot on - even for the tricky bits. I had to reassemble twice - first time because I had accidentally pulled one of the ribbon cables out on the main unit - just fed back in again OK. Second time, because backlight was not lit - this was from the silver cable not being snuggly fitted - refitting it worked a treat. Thanks for this great kit - I am almost tempted to buy more Evoke radios and fix them up, more to save the planet than anything else :-)

Replacement screen for Evoke Pure Flow

Brilliant conversion to repair what would have been binned!
Fiddly to do but the instructions guide you through the job.
Putting the new screen in place is a test but a non specialist can do the whole thing without fear.

DAB radio working again

The installation went well and the display works well. The viewing angle is a littlelimited, but at least the radio works again now.
My radio was different inside to the one in the puctures, but it still worked OK. For a moment, when I switched it on, I though the backlight wasn'r working, but it was just that my rechargeable battery pack was taking a while to come up to voltage.

Replacing dead screens in Pure Flow Radios

I had 2 Pure Flow radios that the screens had died in. One was bought to celebrate 25 years working for the same company and one was inherited from my father. Both screens gradually faded with time and the two radios were left on the same radio station. This rendered both radios almost useless. Having hunted on the internet for a solution I eventually came across the 'Blue Screen' kits which appeared to get away from the problem of replacing the screen only to find it eventually fades away again. Having waited for them to be available again I ordered two screens. The instructions that came with the screens guided you through the dismantling procedure, installation of the replacement screen and reassembly of the radio well. The only comment I have is that it was easier to connect the long ribbon cable to the connector on the new screen board before screwing the board in position. But that may be due to the size of my hands. All you need to replace the screens is a set of screwdrivers. Having connected everything back together both radios worked first time. I now have two fully working Pure Flow radios. I can only praise the quality of the kits and the way that they work. It may not be a yellow screen as the original but the blue screen looks good and automatically adjusts the screen brightness to the light levels.

Gave our Evoke Flow a new lease of life

New LCD screen and connected circuit board arrived within a few days of ordering. Instructions leaflet and online updated instructions together made the installation process very straightforward. Took me about 1 hour to complete it at a slow steady pace just so I made no errors. Powered up and working a treat while accepting that scrolling text will never be as readable as original OLED display. Not a major issue since all the static text is easily readable and hopefully this new LCD display will not degrade as the original OLED display did rendering the radio unusable. Thanks for providing us a cost effective solution so this radio can be back into daily use again.

Excellent choice for repair of Pure Evoke F4 Radio Screen

Wow! Who knew something so helpful and useful would be so simple to install. The replacement hardware arrived quickly and was well packaged. The instructions were well written and straightforward to follow with useful clear pictures of each stage. The procedure took about 20-30 minutes as I took it slowly and carefully. I could easily do another in under 10 minutes now I have done it once. Can't speak highly enough of enabling me to fix my own radio, well pleased.

Works like a charm

Been listening to a single station for the past months, radioparadise, quite good, but sometimes one likes to switch to something different. Done that now, a blue screen ;-). Changing the display was a bit tricky at first, then remembered to put on my reading glasses, took a sip of tea and some 45 min later the deed was done. Thanks David. Now I need to find something similar for my Oasis Flow.

Resurrected my old Evoke - so Happy

Radio is like new

The fitting of the display is a bit fiddly at points but really not difficult and extremely well documented. The thing works like a charm and it is like owning a brand new radio now.

Superb

The replacement kit arrived really quickly. Finally got around to fitting this LCD to a Flow (squeezing out the last few hours on the original LED). Easy to fit and now a usable Evoke Flow with a great LCD screen. Have previously used one of their LED replacement screens on an Evoke F4, without these super replacement screens (LED or LCD) I'd have two DAB/internet radios for the scrap heap. Now a very happy radio listener. Thank you D&H Pye for these great screens.

Great bit of kit! Although text blurs when scrolling, it is perfectly readable when stationary. Instructions were thorough and easy to follow. Item was well packaged however, didn't get any shipping info until after delivery. No problems as it fitted through letter box. Very happy as i was about to scrap it and decided to take one last look for a replacement screen.

This LCD screen saved my Evoke Flow radio from the scrapheap

With the accompanying instructions the replacement of the screen took about 20 minutes and was not too difficult for someone with a reasonable level of technical ability. No specialist tools were required.

Now a usable pure radio at last

Package with updated circuit board and display arrived safely. Fitting was easy and display worked OK. When using the radio the only thing I found was that the touch pads needed to be held for a second or two before they responded, a small price to pay for an excellent bit of kit.

I'm not much of a DIYer and electronics are a mystery to me but I can follow simple instructions and plug one thing into another. I managed this repair fine. It took me about 20 minutes. The price was reasonable to get a radio I like back in service.

Envoi rapide et conforme, pas de soucis.
J’ai suivi les instructions (http://www.davidmpye.com/files/LCDInstructions.pdf) en faisant un copier/coller sur GoogleTraduction, pas de soucis particulier en tâtonnant un peu avec la traduction pour les connecteurs qui se retirent finalement assez bien.. sans forcer vu la petite taille (un que l’on doit lever, un autre qu’il faut pousser si je me souviens bien, fait il y a 2 semaines..).
A certains moments pas beaucoup d’espace pour manœuvrer mais rien de rédhibitoire.
Compter 30/45mn en le faisant tranquillement.

Great buy

Had spent far too much on a “genuine” display which lasted about six weeks and I couldn’t find another anywhere. The Pure Evoke Flow was for the bin when I came across this LCD version. Not the most elegant replacement but it works, was easy to fit, instructions left a little to guesswork but I managed that and the Evoke lives again. No support anywhere from Pure themselves.

My Pure Evoke F4 screen is eventually working again!!!

Because it should be future proof, I decided to go for the LCD (white on blue) screen: https://www.tindie.com/products/20617/
Rather than the OLED (yellow screen): https://www.tindie.com/products/20619/
that, again, would fade off with time.
The screen was shipped quickly and I received it in less than 24 hours as described (I live in the UK).
It arrived well packaged with reference to the online instructions that are very clear and complete. Although I do not have any particular skills in electronics, I was able to fit it in about 40 mins.
I can now operate my Pure Evoke F4 radio again, the screen works very well (given the “things to be aware of”... as indicated by David).

Saved my radio!

The kit was received in good time and all was in order as described. Fitting is a bit fiddly but take your time and it's easy enough. Re-assembled the radio with the new board and all was working in half an hour. Display is clear and everything operates as it did previously (as advised scrolling does show some blurring and the viewing angle is not quite as good as the OLED but it's not a problem). I'm very pleased with my purchase. Thanks David.

Excellent product to resuscitate my dark Pure Evoke Flow

This has saved my excellent Pure Evoke Flow radio from the recycling bin because the dark, failed LED screen has now been replaced by a bright blue display.
I was totally daunted by the prospect of taking the radio apart and carrying out this repair but David’s excellent instructions complete with annotated photos made this all possible, even for an electronic newbie like me.
David is right to point out that there is a small blurring of the scrolling characters on the display and the optimal angle of vision is slightly less good than the original but these are small issues and I chose the blue option over the original style replacement because David suggested that it should last longer and not fade in the same way.
So my great radio is working again and there is a great sense of achievement for me for carrying out this repair.

Appears all as described, naturally.

Received in quick time. All appears very professional and as described of course.
I do not now expect to fit it for a few days now as my 97 year old mother is far from well.
Of course I will be able to say more when I do.
I am certainly hopeful that its longevity is better than some original OLEDs seem to have been.

Radio reborn

Thrilled that our Pure Evoke Flow is now working again, with a better and brighter screen. Excellent item, excellent service, arrived very quickly. Clear instructions are provided, even a novice can fit this. Not difficult just fiddly. I had a few glitches on the way but David communicated rapidly and all was sorted out in the end. Six stars!
