Description

The Electronic Snowflake is a white, snowflake-shaped printed circuit board, bristling with 30 WS2182C full-color RGB LEDs, an ambient light sensor, a microphone, an IR receiver, and more! It runs on 3xAAA batteries or a micro USB charger and comes ready to play with an array of fun light patterns, variations, and modes.

But that's not all. the Electronic Snowflake is also a "duino." You can program it using the Arduino IDE using a serial cable to write your own effects or even build on add-ons using available remaining GPIO pins. You don't have to reprogram it, but the manual includes the necessary documentation if you want to!

Runs on either 3xAAA batteries or any USB power supply with a micro connector
30 WS2182C full-color addressable LEDs
Atmel Atmega328P processor, just like an Arduino Uno
ambient light sensor to auto-darken in dim rooms
microphone and sound-level detector to pulse lights to music or speech
infra-red sensor to control by remote -- remote control INCLUDED
three buttons including reset
Headers (not populated): FTDI serial, ICSP programming, and two custom headers including four Arduino digital IO, 2 analog inputs, and I2C, as well as power and ground
Designed and assembled in the USA by me

Great product!

Really love the snowflake! If you ever decide to make a larger version or a Star verion I'll be first in the queue to order another.

Thanks for the review. I'm curious; I've heard a few people suggesting something larger, perhaps to serve as a tree topper. How big would you go? Would the bare circuit board aesthetic still work for you?
