Read More…The Industrious Arduino R3 Box Kit is a DIN-rail mountable, easy-to-hookup, more-permanent project enclosure for your Arduino-based projects. It has a PCB Arduino shield which breaks all of the pins on a standard R3 layout Arduino out to screw terminals.
The kit consists of the enclosure box, two sets of 20-position screw terminals, bolts and pin-headers, and the adapter PCB which fits R3 layout Arduinos.
The enclosure box itself has some nice features, too. The box has mounting holes for screws, DIN rail clips, air vents, and bolts to secure the lid, PCB, and base together.
All available space on the PCB and every screw terminal was made useful. Each of the R3 pins is mapped 1:1 with the screw terminals, so you can easily figure out which is which. Additionally the built-in breadboard has 9 of its rows broken out to screw terminals for interfacing with added electronics.
Each of the Arduino pins is also accessible inside the box by using the extra through-holes, which can be used with jumper wires to bridge the Arduino and breadboard section.
I often make one-off projects with Arduinos that end up being a jumble of wires bridging between the Arduino, a solderless breadboard, and anything that I'm controlling or sensing. When I find myself wanting to make my project more permanent, I find my options to be shoving my prototype into a generic plastic box, or designing a custom PCB. This kit is my attempt to bridge the gap between these two options.
Part of me sees it as a prototyping platform, and the other part of me sees it as a way to turn your Hobby Arduino into an Industrial Arduino.
Soldering required.
