I call it simply - "Garage Door Controller". This device will allow you to open/close your garage door (and check the status of) from your Android-based smartphone or tablet. (Please note - iPhones/iPads/iPads are NOT supported at this time)

Why did you make it?

I got tired of losing my remotes for my garage door opener, and tired of worrying about another device to keep track of. Tired of replacing the batteries. I also needed a way of letting someone in my garage when I'm not around from time to time. Lastly, I wanted to be able to check if my garage door is open or closed when I'm away from home - you ever get the feeling that you forgot to close it when you left the house? (Yeah, me too!)

What makes it special?

I feel that this device is fairly to install, and since it's assembled already for you, you only need to provide a couple more components, and you'll be ready to go.

It's important that you visit this project page because it will explain how it works in more detail. It also mentions that you need a couple other things like an Arduino Ethernet Shield, wire, magnet, reed switch. It will also mention the 'assumptions' such as - you have working Internet access, an automatic garage door opener, an Android smartphone or tablet, etc.

Please note that in order for this device to work on your network, the microcontroller needs to be programmed with your desired network settings. This means that you have to have a means to program the microcontroller - an Arduino board will work just fine. If you don't have one, or any other means of programming it, I can program it for you with the settings that you want.

Shipping info: I'm sorry but I'm only shipping to the US at the moment. I looked into shipping to Australia for a possible customer but it was going to cost around $150 to ship there via UPS/FedEx, and that is just ridiculous!
