DESCRIPTION: The SX1278 transceivers from Semtech feature the LoRaTM long range modem that provides ultra-long range spread spectrum communication and high interference immunity whilst minimising current consumption.Using Semtech's patented LoRaTM modulation technique SX1278 can achieve a sensitivity using a low cost crystal and bill of materials. The high sensitivity combined with the integrated +20 dBm power amplifier yields industry leading link budget making it optimal for any application requiring range or robustness.

DORJI takes the advantage of LoRa technique and released the long range data radio modem DRF1278DM. It provides standard UART interface and support two types of working modes: Standard mode and Star network mode. The standard mode of DRF1278DM is similar to other data radio modems of DORJI and the host only needs to transfer / receive data to/from DRF1278DM module with preset data format. In Star network mode the DRF1278DM modules can be easily used to establishe a star network. Because of high sensitivity, the long transmission distance can be achieved without relay nodes, which can reduce the complexity of mesh networking. Please note that the module doesn't contain lorawan protocol. Therefore the star network feature of this module is used with itself protocol so it is not compatible with lorawan. Can only comment on the shipping and packaging... well done!

Shipping time was adequate, just as expected, no delays.

All 3 modules I ordered arrived in one bubble envelope, inside 2 of the 3 were labeled so the guess work on the 3rd was easy. The antennas were packaged separately and were labeled as well.
The chips were individually packaged appropriately, foam sandwiched in anti-static bags.

No documentation included (can one really expect paper documentation these days?) but their website seems to have it all very well done, easy to read. We'll see when I get them set up.

I can't wait for the rest of my gear to show up and if the packaging is any indicator, I can expect everything to work just fine.

Good product range at 9600 bauds ~1.5km

This product come with a good packaging. Shipping at France is about two weeks.

I bought two of them and use them on two arduinos (Mega and Nano) and with a bit of research, I made a little "tchat" on Github : https://github.com/storca/SemtechLoRaSX1278ChatTTL

Range is about 1.5km through obstacles.

Good quality and packing!

I have ordered 2 modules and received it after 2 weeks. This product too small and can apply to drone or airplane rc for telemetry tracking.

DRF1278 DM module

Received 2 DRF1278 DM modules with USB to UART converter board. The items were very well packed .
The documentation is very minimal & took some research to figure out how things work.
It will be better if they provide heat shield as provided on other modules.

Good distance, easy to use

So far I did a simple test using the antennas which came with the dongles. One device was inside the apartment (2nd floor, residential area - no high rise buildings around) and the other was in the car. Got reliable reception at a distance of a slightly more than 1km.

Easy to get going

These RF devices are long range supplier doesn't provide any test results but others using LoRa do.
Libelium have they are seeing 2Km in cites and 22Km line of site rural areas.
Some urban tests 1.5Km through 14 buildings that's impresive.
