I've always preferred to build prototypes using "solderable breadboard" style prototyping board, which has holes tied together in groups of 3-4. This 2" x 2" prototyping board has 92 groups of 3 holes, in six rows. There are also two rows, suitable for use as power or ground rails, of 12 pins tied together, and an exposed ground trace around the perimeter of the board, with convenient connection points distributed across the board. There are 4 mounting holes in the corners suitable for use with 3mm or #4 screws. Screw spacing matches my 2" x 2" project boards for ATtiny85 and ATtiny84)
