This is a simple development board for the Atmel ATtiny1634. It provides the familiar 6-pin FTDI header for connecting to serial and ISP header for programming via ISP, and it has the capacitor for auto reset. A jumper is provided to enable or disable auto reset. Pads are also provided for external power in to supply an SOT-223 regulator (allowing higher current than many uC development boards, including the Arduino/Nano/Pro Mini), and a crystal, if desired. It can be used with breadboard, by mounting the pins pointing down, or as a standalone board for use with female dupont jumpers, with the pins pointing up. For ease of connection w/out breadboard, four Vcc and Gnd pins are provided, instead of just one.

Using the core available from my Github at https://github.com/SpenceKonde/ATTinyCore the ATtiny1634 can be used with the Arduino IDE, with optiboot bootloader support.

This board is sold UNPOPULATED (It's just a SOIC-24W - this is an excellent chance to practice your drag soldering :) )

New and improved version (Rev C)

As of December 15, we are proud to announce a new and improved version of this popular board, with a few exciting features:

• Narrower form factor to make use with breadboard more convenient
• Reset enable jumper is now connected on the PCB, so no jumper needs to be installed in order to get autoreset. This was a frequent point of confusion. To disable autoreset and use a jumper instead, cut the trace between the two pads next to the RST_EN jumper.
• Support for surface mount ISP connector removed in order to save space. Experience has shown that the surface mount pinheader is difficult to reliably solder in a reflow oven, in addition to being relatively uncommon.
• ENIG/gold surface treatment.
• V-groove panelization - no more rat-bites along the side
• Silk screen improvements and other minor changes

The ATtiny1634 - A highly capable part

The Atmel ATtiny1634 microcontroller is an exciting and economical processor from Atmel's ATtiny line of 8-bit AVR microcontrollers. Although it doesn't have a third timer like the tiny841 does, the combination of large flash and SRAM memory, dual uarts, and 17 GPIO pins makes it a compelling package, filling a space between the smaller Tiny's, and the ever popular '328p. The second uart makes this chip particularly well suited for use with GPS, GSM, and serial WiFi adapters (like the ESP8266) without interfering with serial programming.

All of these parts (except the microcontroller itself) are common parts. Most SMD passives are 1206 to facilitate hand soldering.

• ATtiny1634 MCU
• 1 0.1uf 1206 ceramic capacitor (2 if using DTR reset)
• 1 piece 2x3 0.1" pin header (for ISP programming)
• 2 piece 1x13 0.1" pin header
• 1 piece 1x6 0.1" pin header, recommend 90 deg angled (for FTDI header)
• 1 10k ohm 1206 resistor
• 1 1206 LED (if desired - recommended)
• 1 1206 resistor for aforementioned LED, 220 ohms minimum, recommend 470ohm ~ 2.2k
• 1 small diode (SOD-123/DO-80 package - any diode will do), if using DTR reset
• 1 piece 1x2 0.1" pin header (if using DTR reset - required for Rev. B and earlier. On Rev. C, this is necessary only if you cut the reset enable trace)
• 1 tantalum or 1206, 1210 or 0805 ceramic capacitor for power supply filtering (optional, required if using regulator)
• 1 1206 ceramic capacitor for external power supply filtering and regulator input. (required if using regulator only)
• 1 voltage regulator in SOT-223 package (optional)
• 1 1206 PTC fuse (if using external voltage regulator), or 0ohm resistor.
• 1 HC/49 SMT crystal, and 0805 loading caps per mfg. spec (optional)
• 1 external power connector on 0.1" centers (optional)
