Description

This is a DIY part/kit to replace the DSi (or DSi XL) charging port into a USB-C based charger.

It contains the USB connector with a small PCB, with pre-populated resistors to properly trigger 5V charging (with most chargers, like laptop, cellphone, Nintendo switch, etc). The PCB can be directly soldered to the DSi board.

After the install, the case/shell will need some rework. Usually making the charger hole a bit wider (with a cutter tool/grinder). There might also leave a tiny gap between the USB port and the edge of the shell, but not enough to be a problem.

Instructions

The mod requires (not included):

• Desoldering the original charger port (we recommend a hot air station, but not strictly necessary).
• Grinding the case with a cutter tool to remove some material from the upper shell (so there's room for the USB connector) and to make the connector hole slightly wider (or using a different shell).
• Soldering the connector onto the PCB, either with hot air or a soldering iron.

Obviously, none of the above parts/materials are included!

This part is for a regular DSi, but also fits a DSi XL without issue. The shell might require some work as well.
