I designed the Vreg1 Regulator to help with ready made and open source power regulation.

The module can be soldered onto an PCB. It has a PTC for protection (soft fuse), and short circuit protection.

The DC/DC Step Down Power Module outputs regulated fixed 5V from up to 35V input. The maximum current is 500 mA on the input side, before the soft fuse trips.

Featuring the classical LM7805 from STMicroelectronics. The version beeing the L7805C in a SOT 252-2 package. It has a low profile (in total 4mm height), and a small size of 17.5x20.0 mm. There are components on one side only, so you can solder in directly on you PCB like any other module.

One pin for enable/disable; marked EN.

The LM7805 embeds internal current limiting, thermal shut-down and safe area protection, making it essentially indestructible.
