GEX2400 and GEX2400S each integrate an XBee3 module from Digi International configurable with the XCTU software, directly with the USB port of the device, or from a TCP/IP network. XBee3 can receive the proprietary Digimesh firmware.

GEX868 and GEX868S each integrate an XB8 module from Digi International configurable with the XCTU software, directly with the USB port of the device, or from a TCP/IP network. but has the proprietary Digimesh firmware only.

GEX2400 and GEX868 offers the simplest and most cost-effective way to connect a mesh network to a TCP/UDP/HTTPD server/client.

GEX2400S and GEX868S provide advanced data encryption and security features on the Ethernet side such as TLS1.2 and AES256, in its 'S' version, in cases where the device would communicate directly on the internet. It also offers a wide choice of communication protocols and advanced combinations. See the table below.
