A great gadget for a great price.

After researching this product, I found that the cost of the parts in it would cost about the same as the finished item, so that is a great deal right there.
So it is cheaper or the same cost to buy this already to go unit, than to build one yourself., unless you really need a multi-channel gateway.
The firmware and documentation are great, and it works better than expected.
The only CONs are that it is only 1 channel, and it is a bit slow on packet forwarding, but that was supposedly fixed in the new firmware update.
Everything else about it a a PRO!

A useful and working, yet somewhat complicated LoRa gateway

The product is useful for my projects, and it is quite essential. But, not all of the example programs are working; I spent a lot of time to tweak the example program to get working as I expected.

Great LORAWAN product (work with TTN effortlessy)

Hi,

This is a great LORAWAN product, who's working effortlessy with The Things Network.
But paper documentation is inexistent (but online documentation is usefull).

About the shipping : My parcel was soaked and the cardboard box was floppy... Fortunately, the products was packed in an individual non static bag...

Excellent way to start with point-to-point LoRa

After some trouble getting the two 915 MHz version gateways I ordered (868 MHz version was sent the first time) I was able to follow the very well-documented getting-started instructions to see the gateway on my laptop, get it connected to my local wifi network, program to blink the heart led, and then get both gateways talking to each other, one as a server and one as a client.

The documentation is very clear and easy to follow. The example sketches work well out of the box using Radiohead's library.

Overall, this is a nice starter for people who want to dip their toe into the LoRa radio waters. It is not a LoRaWAN-capable system, as is made clear on the tindie store page, but users will be able to connect multiple LoRa radio clients to one of these "gateways" and have them send data to the gateway in turns. This is fine for in home use and for hobbyists to tinker with. Overall I am happy with the two gateways I bought and I plan to make use of them for projects around the house using my own LoRa development boards as the clients. Well done Edwin!

My only complaint is that the AVR MCU running the LoRa radio is severly underpowered, has no RTC, limited RAM, no encryption, etc all of the missing features that cause people to move up to an ARM-based MCU. Perhaps this could be done for a future version of this lovely little gateway?
