Why did you make it? I love to design little devices and boards. I needed a small USB hub for my minimal desk setup to connect my keyboard , mouse and programming hardware. I thought why not make my own hub because it would be a cool little device to have which would benefit my setup and I would have fun designing and building it.
What makes it special? It is a do it yourself kit that allows the user to gain advanced soldering experience using various rework tools including hot air guns, hand soldering irons and have a working device that can be used for many USB based applications.
