This soldering kit is a realization of the classic 4-in-a-row game (also goes by another name which is trademarked) in a circuit board.

This kit comes with two PCBs to solder: An driver board and a user interface board. The user interface board is simply a 7x6 LED matrix with buttons on top. The driver board is what does almost everything, which includes the main microcontroller. The micro controller is the ATMega328P, the same as an Arduino Uno.

SMD Parts

There are two required SMD components that are required to be populated for this kit to work: A polyfuse and a ferrite bead. There is also an optional SMD bypass capacitors that is recommended to be soldered on. If you pick the "SMD Pre-Soldered" option, those components will come pre-soldered on the main driver board. Alternatively, you can choose to have them not pre-soldered if you would like a challenge (it's not THAT bad).

Rev 1 USB-UART Note

Due to limitations of the ATMega's I/O and a bug in Rev1 of the PCB, all Rev 1 driver boards does not have the CH340 USB to UART converter IC soldered on. This means that you will not be able to upload a new firmware to the board as you would with an Arduino. Instead, you can upload the firmware thru the ISP header (J3). Firmware

All shipped kits will have the microcontroller pre-flashed and tested with the latest released firmware for the kit. The included intro card will include the firmware revision used.
