What is it?

This is an expansion board for the Pixelblaze that allows it to be reprogrammed over USB, in much the same way as other ESP8266 boards.

Take advantage of Pixelblaze's hardware with Arduino and LED libraries like fastLED.

This is also capable of programming other ESP8266/ESP32 boards as well.

A 7-pin female header is included for plugging in to Pixelblaze. Sold as a kit, some soldering is required.

Love Pixelblaze hardware, but want to write in C/C++ using Arduino and fastLED? This is for you!

What makes it special?

Like other ESP programmers, this has an auto reset circuit and a USB serial chip. This one fits perfectly with Pixelblaze, and can attach to the expansion port.

Great USB to serial programmer

Very compact and does exactly what it says. It was very easy to solder to the PixelBlaze v2 and worked with esptool without any problems. I was able to easily backup the stock image and restore it without issues. Only suggestion would be to include a link to the drivers that should be used.

Simple; Works perfect

I was able to use this to flash an ESP32 using esptool.py with no surprises. Solder a header, plug in micro USB, and it works. Pinout is default compatible with Pixelblaze.
